Workshop on Financial Statement Analysis and the Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools in Financial Analysis

As part of the university’s drive to develop academic and financial skills, a specialized workshop entitled “Financial Statement Analysis and the Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools in Financial Analysis” was organized. presented by Dr. Mohsen Ali Muthanna, Head of the Accounting Department, in the presence of a select group of academics, department heads, and administrators, led by Prof. Adel Al-Shimiri, Vice President of the University, and Prof. Mithaq Al-Jabr, Assistant President of the University.
The workshop addressed the concept of financial statement analysis as a fundamental tool for understanding the financial position of institutions and evaluating their performance, in addition to reviewing the objectives of financial statements and their role in supporting decision-makers. The basics of reading financial statements and linking their various components to derive indicators of financial position and business results were also discussed.
The workshop included practical training on applying vertical and horizontal analysis methods, as well as an explanation of financial ratio analysis and its importance in measuring liquidity, profitability, and financial efficiency. In an advanced session, practical examples were presented on the use of artificial intelligence tools in analyzing the financial statements of a successful company and a struggling one, highlighting the fundamental differences in financial performance and the importance of smart technologies in predicting risks and improving the quality of analysis.
The workshop emphasized the importance of integrating modern technologies into accounting and financial education, thereby contributing to the qualification of cadres capable of keeping pace with the requirements of the labor market and enhancing the university’s academic standing.
