The Department of Interior Design Discusses Hotel Projects in the Interior Design Course (3)

As part of academic and practical activities aimed at honing students’ skills and enhancing their creative and artistic abilities in the field of interior design, the Department of Interior Design at the University organized a distinguished academic session to discuss student projects in the course “Interior Design (3),” which was dedicated this semester to hotel design, one of the fields most in need of precision, innovation, and the combination of aesthetic and functional aspects.

The discussion session was held under the direct supervision of Engineer Sumaya Hassan, a distinguished figure in the fields of teaching and academic training, who guided the students throughout the semester to produce comprehensive projects reflecting their ability to address the interior design requirements of hotels of various styles. The session was attended by high-level academic figures, including the University President, Prof. Dr. Mujahid Al-Jabr; the University Secretary General, Mr. Safwan Al-Jabr; and the Head of the Interior Design Department, Dr. Yahya Al-Bashari, alongside a select group of faculty members and students interested in the field of interior design.

During the discussion session, students presented their innovative projects, which ranged from comprehensive hotel designs to models reflecting a deep understanding of the aesthetic and functional standards governing the design of interior spaces in hotel facilities. The students demonstrated an exceptional ability to incorporate various design elements—including diverse materials, innovative lighting systems, and harmonious color palettes—in a way that aligns with the venue’s identity while ensuring guest comfort and meeting their needs. For his part, University President Prof. Dr. Mujahid Al-Jabr praised the outstanding level of creativity the students achieved in their projects, emphasizing that these works represent a true fruit of the joint efforts between the academic staff and the students, and reflect the quality of education and practical training that the university is committed to providing in this vital field. Dr. Yahya Al-Bashari, Head of the Department, also commended the meticulous academic supervision provided by Engineer Sumaya Al-Houthi, who ensured that students were guided toward creativity grounded in precise scientific foundations and an integrated research methodology, enabling them to present projects that combine theoretical thought with professional practical application.

At the conclusion of the discussion, attendees expressed their great admiration for the innovative ideas and promising designs they witnessed, which bore clear creative signatures, affirming that these practical experiences represent an important and fundamental step in preparing a generation of interior designers capable of competing in the job market with efficiency and competence, and to contribute to the development of the interior design and hospitality sectors at both the local and regional levels.
