Scientific Symposium on Sustainable Data Centers to Meet the Demands of Artificial Intelligence

Saturday, 26 Sha’ban 1447 AH, corresponding to February 14, 2026 AD,

College of Engineering and smart Computing organized a symposium titled: “Data Centers: Infrastructure and Meeting the Demands of Artificial Intelligence.” The event was held under the patronage of the University President, Prof. Mujahid Al-Jabr, in collaboration with the Yemeni Information and Communications Technology Association.

Topics of the Scientific Symposium:

The symposium, presented by Engineer Ammar Naji —Head of the Development Department at the Association and an expert in data centers and infrastructure—addressed the rapid transformations in data center architecture, as well as their design and operational mechanisms to keep pace with the boom in artificial intelligence applications.

It also covered technical readiness requirements regarding power, cooling systems, information security, and business continuity. He also reviewed local and regional challenges in this vital sector and the importance of building national capabilities capable of managing and operating advanced digital infrastructure.

Seminar Attendees:

The seminar was attended by the University President, Prof. Mujahid Al-Jabr; the Vice President, Prof. Adel Al-Shimiri; the President of the Yemeni Information and Communications Technology Union, Dr. Mohammed Al-Riyashi; the Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology, Dr. Yahya Al-Samawi; the Dean of the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences, Dr. Zayed Al-Shawish; and the University Secretary General, Mr. Safwan Al-Jabr, along with a group of academics, students, and those interested in technical matters.

Conclusion of the Symposium:

At the conclusion of the seminar, the President of the Association, Dr. M. Mohammed Al-Riyashi, delivered a speech in which he emphasized the importance of integrating the roles of academic institutions and professional bodies to create a technological environment capable of meeting the demands of the digital economy, praising the university’s efforts in establishing specialized knowledge platforms that serve students and the job market.

The University President, Prof. Mujahid Al-Jabr, also delivered a closing address in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Yemeni Information and Communications Technology Union and to the distinguished speaker, praising the level of scholarly discourse and discussions that took place during the symposium, and affirming the university’s commitment to continuing to organize high-quality events that enhance students’ readiness in the fields of digital transformation and artificial intelligence, and support the country’s technological development trajectory.
