The Modern Specialized University wins first place. This was among public and private universities and community colleges at the second short film festival.

Sunday, 13 Sha’ban 1447 AH, corresponding to February 1, 2026 AD

Mr. Hassan Al-Saadi, the Minister of Education and Scientific Research, provided support. Dr. Hatem Al-Da’is, the Deputy Minister, was also present. Additionally, Mr. Safwan Al-Jabr, the University Secretary General, attended the event.

In a vibrant cultural scene full of creativity, the modern specialized university achieved great success. It won first place in the second short film festival for Yemeni universities and community colleges. The university also received several individual awards. These honors showed the talent of the film team and the skill of its young members.

This well-deserved award was for the short film “Roger.” It was directed by Munir Samir Shalaf. The film offered a deep cinematic experience. It went beyond what seemed possible and captured the essence of art.

Hashim Salah Al-Tuwaity and Ammar Al-Nami stood out in their roles. They showed sincerity and harmony. Their characters were lively and full of emotion, with small human details. Rising star Layan Al-Khadmi stood out with her strong presence and lively performance. She is a promising name in young cinema. Layan shows she can make her mark with confidence and skill.

In his speech, the Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research shared his pride in this achievement. He emphasized that the modern specialized university serves as a great example of combining academic work with cultural creativity.

He said:
“This victory shows a better understanding of how art helps people grow. It proves that Yemeni universities can nurture creativity and promote thought and culture. This is possible when there is a clear vision and real support for young talent.”

Mr. Abdulkarim Al-Dahhak is the Director General of Activities at the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research. He praised the quality of the film. He emphasized that cultural and artistic activities are key to developing university students’ personalities. He explained that:

“Roger’s film shares a deep human message with a clear artistic vision. It shows a great team effort that deserves support and encouragement. This film is an important step in making meaningful and influential university cinema.”
