As part of its ongoing efforts to keep pace with rapid technological developments and to promote a culture of academic innovation and institutional development, Modern Specialized University organized a distinguished scientific symposium this morning titled “Cloud Computing: A New Horizon for Information Systems Management and Operation,” under the gracious patronage of the University President, Prof. Dr. Mujahid Nasser Al-Jabr, and under the supervision of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, which is committed to organizing high-quality events that enrich academic knowledge and keep pace with the demands of the digital age.

The seminar was attended by high-level academic and administrative figures, including the University President, Prof. Dr. Mujahid Al-Jabr; the Vice President, Prof. Dr. Adel Al-Shimiri; and the University Secretary General, Mr. Safwan Al-Jabr, along with a number of college deans, academic department heads, faculty members, and students interested in the fields of information technology and digital systems management, who demonstrated remarkable engagement with the seminar’s topic through fruitful discussions and contributions that enriched the scientific content and gave it a practical and interactive character.

The scientific seminar was presented by Dr. Yasser Al-Dabai, Head of the Department of Management Information Systems at the university, who systematically reviewed modern concepts of cloud computing, explaining its different types (public, private, and hybrid) and the main service models (Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service, and software as a service).

Dr. Yasser also discussed the importance of cloud computing in developing the infrastructure of educational and administrative institutions, and how it effectively contributes to improving data management efficiency, reducing operational costs, and enabling flexible and highly secure access to information from anywhere and at any time, making it a strategic choice for institutions seeking comprehensive digital transformation.

The presentation was not limited to theoretical aspects; the speaker also addressed the practical challenges institutions face when transitioning to a cloud computing environment, such as cybersecurity issues, data protection, and compliance with legal standards, in addition to infrastructure and human training requirements, while reviewing the most prominent technical solutions provided by modern systems to overcome these challenges and ensure the success of the transformation process.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the University President, Prof. Dr. Mujahid Al-Jabr, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance for its outstanding organization, and to Dr. Yasser Al-Dabai for the rich scientific presentation and valuable information included in the seminar, emphasizing that the university will continue its approach of organizing such specialized scientific events that keep pace with the latest developments in the digital revolution and contribute to building an academic and professional generation capable of consciously and efficiently interacting with the demands of the future and its rapid changes.
